Room 11 by Wayne Ernzer

I waited for you all my life
I'll wait for you in heaven
and when your foot steps
lead to me I'll be
in room 11

The way it is By Wayne Ernzer

Simplicity comes not with out
it's intricacies
and
vice versa

What I meant By Wayne Ernzer

Intentions rarely favor true
the way they were intended to

The teachings of dad by Wayne Ernzer

This is dedicated to Peter Joseph Ernzer
The smartest man I knew

The teachings of dad

I am telling you now
that to me seems so clear.
that the teachings of dad
will always be dear
and will always be with me
through my following years.
When i do my work
through my regular day .
he is there in my mind
always showing the way.
rather tying a rope
or sharpening a tool
there is something to be said
about dad's kind of school
He took time to to tell me
what's right and whats wrong
and it runs through my mind
like a favorite song.
He's the kind of a person
I aspire to be.
the way that he does things
is something to see
when my puzzled pieces
just don't seem to fit
he would show me another way
of looking at it
Oh what would would one do
with out the teachings of dad
to know him in my life
just makes me so glad
And I know that the lives
of others he's touched
just could not help saying
they learned just as much
I am always there with him
he is there by my side
and even in travel
he's along for the ride
I thank you dad
for just being there.
And you'r teachings to me
to my son I will share

Soul Searching Surfer By Wayne Ernzer

A letter to my to son while on his 9 month surfing journey around the world

I am just a soul searching surfer
and a dedicated guy
who hoped and prayed
and scrimped and saved
so one day I could fly.
My Idea was to travel the globe
And to surf where it could be had
and cheering me on were my biggest fans
Lets call them mom and dad.
I planned the trip
I knew the way
I traveled it
in my sleep
the wierd day was
when i sold my truck
no longer mine to keep.
still it fetched me most of
the the money
to  make the
trip complete.
See a surfers dream
is to surf a wave
that's the best
he has ever had.
Then to paddel back out
to a better one
i think the word is rad.
You see surfing is like life
that much I have found
and neither should be taken for granted
I live for the rush when I am droping in
and my surfboard becomes slanted.
to harness the energy of the swell
that heads toward the beaches shore
I think of how lucky a surfer I am.
How could any one ask for more.

@ last @ least By Wayne Ernzer

A letter to my to son while on his 9 month surfing journey around the world. When his buddy John Swartz- Mr Mellow -had stopped by to take some things to Ian in New York before their leg through europe

@ last @ least youre not
cruzin alone and not
lukin or yur shoulder
whilst so fa frm home.
And John musta been freaked
when we loaded him down
With lead weighted brownies
and rocks that we found.
Then he picked up the box
that he couldnt see past
and I piled more on it
to see if he'd gasp.
So off to a new place that
thats calling to you.
Where they drive on the left
they should go back 2 school
So get some good point breaks
with cool slider walls
to crouch down
and grab rail
but try not to fall.
To stall back
and head dip
but nothing to small.
So aloha to u 2 now
and have good spin
and only do stuff
that brings forth a grin

You have a wonderful trip they said By Wayne Ernzer

A letter to my to son while on his 9 month surfing journey around the world.

You have a wonderful trip they said
as I started on my way
now my journey has taken me to so many places
I wished I would have stayed
I have traveled w/ my buddies and I
have gone it all alone
encounters with people places and such
in the heat or chilled to the bone.
I have surfed the lower Americas
and snow boarded Europe's fluff white
of the food and drink I have savored
has helped to make this trip quite right
I am headed for Australia
a new board and trunks are at hand
and when I get to the beach-
w/ tears of joy in my eyes
I will run accost that sand
this is something I have been waiting for
and the waves I plan to ride.
are said to have a most beautiful shape
on which I am shure I will glide
If my words could ever express all the wonders
one experiences along the way
I know you would save all your pennies
and take a trip
such as this some day

A place like that By Wayne Ernzer

For Randa

Is there still a place like that
it was so long ago
collecting soda bottles
to pay for the show
the hot summer days
remember back when
putting pennys on train tracks
the copper crushed thin
my mind smells the chlorine
at the public swimpool
don't go near the deep end
the lifeguards had rules
Is there still a place like that
I just want to know
would I turn back the clock
and be willing to go

Secret Spots by Wayne Ernzer

A letter to my to son while on his 9 month surfing journey around the world.

"Secret Spots"
Secret spots are places
only locals seem to know.
The tourists seem to drive on by
as though blinded by snow.
Perhaps the angle from the road
or hedges block the view.
Locals just won't turn
that surfing spot into a zoo.
From time to time
the waves turn
into glassy things of dreams—
that carry you through
till the next swell—
and it's bigger, so it seems.
If you are a traveler
and looking for that place
Just hook up with some locals
and try to walk their pace.
If timing's right and things go good.
The locals might show you around
To waves that only locals know.
The waves that will astound.
So make a pact to never tell
the world about that spot.
The place you will remember
But say that you forgot.
So if you get my meaning
and It's just as well you do.
By that I mean, don't turn
that surfing spot Into a zoo.

That trip down The Nile

To my friend Kristen Anderson
who fought a long battle against brain cancer
Born November 6 1961
Passed April 20 2007

I wish I could have been there
to celebrate your day.
You have worked hard to stay fit
in an appropriate way.
I've always been awed
by your smoothness and style.
And when things toughen up
you are there with a smile.
Oh, what have I done
to deserve such a friend.
It's kind ones like you
that help troubled hearts mend.
You always seem centered
in a positive way.
Like the flow of a stream
that has not gone astray.
I often think back
to the first of our chats
And We lightly spoke
of this and of that.
You introduced me to your friend
George the cat.
I would just like to say
I think daily of you.
And still ponder
the wonderfull things you will do.
Like that trip down the nile.
I can picture it now
while you drift by the date palms
as you sit at the bow
and take in the beauty
of what's all around.
With the wind in the sail
as it beats out a sound.
And If you don't mind
I would just like to add
that I think quite a lot
of your mom and your dad.
And I put them up front
as the couple elite.
Cause Dad Jim is so cool
and mom Jan is so sweet.
So ya just hang on in there
I'm counting on you
to keep making wishes
I know they'll come true.
Once again Happy Birthday
I am so proud of you.
And you just get hold of me
if theres a thing I can do.

Love,
Wayne Ernzer

To you the one that got away

To you the one that got away
By Wayne Ernzer

To you the one
that got away
But never in my sole
To keep you
wandering in my head
Might my mind
have a subconscious goal
Is my heart so wrong
to have a ping
when my mind
thinks of you.
I never discussed
my self my life
the way you
freed me to.
There stirs a smile
upon my face
while writing down
a thought.
as tho through
all this forever time
I really lost you not.
